Dividend Growth Quest

So, I had big plans for 2024: writing posts for this blog, reading a few investing books, developing a script to track my portfolio, and investing around 850€ each month. I managed to achieve one of those goals—I invested every month. In this post, I’ll review my portfolio, dividends, and purchases in 2024. I’ll also share my thoughts on the current holdings, so I can reflect on my decisions in the future....

Year 2023 did end quite some time ago already. In fact, I should be writing my January review already…but 2024 has had a busy start for me. Last year was full of changes in my life. I changed jobs, got a dog, and in regards to this blog, I started dividend growth investing. I started my journey in September, so it’s been now over 4 months since I started. I have a lot to learn still and I can’t see any compounding yet....

As November has drawn to a close, it’s time once again to delve into my portfolio review. It was a busy month at work so I have had quite minimal amount of time to spend on this blog or investing in the general. But let’s reflect a bit. Dividends keep on coming! It’s fun to own monthly paying companies e.g. Realty Income and Agree Realty. Those companies let me write this part every month!...

It’s time for my second portfolio review already! October has passed super fast and offered some great buying opportunities if one had the cash saved up. This October was said to be the worst October for a while. Stocks were down on the most part. I’ll cut the boilerplate this time and without further ado, let’s get into it! First Dividends!!! October was a milestone month as I received my first dividends!...

Learning is the key to success. And as dividend growth investors, we are familiar with compound interest. The same goes for learning. If we improve our investing mind each day with the rate of 1%, we will be almost 38 times better in one year (1.01^365=~37.7). In the other end, if we would think that improving slowly is just useless, and we’d concentrated to improve ourselves by 20% by focusing on one day per month solely on the topic of investing, we would be only bit under 9 times better in one year....

It’s time to do my first ever monthly review. I use these reviews to reflect on the past month, go through how I’ve allocated my monthly contributions to observe how my portfolio’s dividend income has evolved. These reviews are also a great way for you, my dear reader, to follow up my quest and also comment on it. After all, the interaction in reviews is the most beneficial part. Code review is one of the most effective ways to improve software quality....
