Year 2023 did end quite some time ago already. In fact, I should be writing my January review already…but 2024 has had a busy start for me. Last year was full of changes in my life. I changed jobs, got a dog, and in regards to this blog, I started dividend growth investing. I started my journey in September, so it’s been now over 4 months since I started. I have a lot to learn still and I can’t see any compounding yet. Prices in market have gone up quite a lot, so I need to take more time to find good companies to do more investigation on.

December and dividends

Oh John! I received my first dividend from Johnson & Johnson in December. Also Coca-Cola paid out their dividend alongside with my monthly paying stocks, Agree Realty and Realty Income. In total I received 10.26€ of dicidends in December. That is the highest amount so far.

November 4.50€ 11.92€

Purchases in December

I have to admit…I was lazy. Instead of trying to find anything cool to buy, I just bought more of what I already had. More specifically my monthly payers. It’s just some how satisfying to see your dividends growing bigger each month. And if you look closely, you’ll notice that those purchases were very last minute things. I just wanted to get them in before the end of the year. They will increase my monthly dividends by 3.40€, awesome!

What shall 2024 bring to me - and us?

I remain committed and will continue my journey as it began. I’ll contribute 800€ a month to buying mainly dividend growth stocks. I’ll keep small portion of my portfolio to random growth stocks. I want to increase my PADI (projected annual dividend income) a lot. I’m using @European_DGI’s dividend tracker to track my progress. The tracker is currently showing me PADI of 242€. If I keep on investing 800€ I should have invested 9600€ by the end of 2024 on top of my around 4700€. That would be 14300€ in total at the end of 2024.

In addition to investing, I’ve found that compiling data for the tables is quite time-consuming. With numerous stocks to update and 1-3 purchases a month, the task can be daunting. To address this, I’ve begun developing a script to automate the data processing. This script is designed to work with the exported data from my broker, Degiro. The goal is simple: to transform the export file into a format that readily provides all necessary information, such as current value and performance over time. I plan to share my progress on this project here on the blog.

I’m also planning on adding more pages to the blog, especially when I have needed data to draw some graphs. Maybe even add some PADI meters or something else. And of course, I’ll keep on writing these monthly reviews, and maybe some other posts too.

I also bought 4 investing books to read from local book store clearance sale. My goal is to read them all by the end of 2024. I’ll try to gather the main points from the books and create posts from them. The books cover quality investing, value investing, small cap investing and some famous investors from past.

Aaand the ends the post this time. Year 2023 was a busy year, and also exiting year for me. I hope that in 10 years I’ll look at these posts and be just proud of myself. I hope you’ll join me on this journey.
